Clayton Moton heads the administrative staff as principal of Dutchman Creek Middle School. Principal Moton boasts a combined 23 years of successful middle school experience in various capacities of leadership, including as a decorated classroom teacher, head coach of several championship sports teams, athletics director, and reputable assistant principal. He has a diversified background of educational practices and approaches, including Middle Years International Baccalaureate (MY-IB) and AdvancED accredited STEM/STEAM educational approaches, project-based learning (PBL) and 21st Century innovative practices. Principal Moton is also a trained ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ Schools to Watch evaluator. He begins his sixth year as principal of Dutchman Creek. 

              Mr. Moton found an early calling for education, dating back to his formative years as a grade school honor student in the McCormick County, SC school system. He attended Wofford College in Spartanburg and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg campus, currently known as USC Upstate, in 1999 with honors. As a Preferred New Teacher Recruit, he immediately began his teaching career as a fifth grade teacher at Belleview Elementary in ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ Hill. In 2001, Mr. Moton was elected school Teacher of the Year by his colleagues. In 2003, he joined the Saluda Trail Middle School staff as a middle-level science teacher, where he also coached football, basketball, and wrestling. He earned the position of Athletics Director of Saluda Trail, where he successfully supervised the academic and athletic development of over 300 student athletes yearly. He earned his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts and became an assistant principal at Saluda Trail in 2008. He was named principal of Dutchman Creek in January 2018. Mr. Moton is a proud husband and father. He and his wife Leslie have two outstanding boys, Tyrinn and Treyton. His hobbies include sports photography, golf, and technological gadgets.
