Vitamins against Hair Loss

The lack of vital vitamins is often blamed on being one of the major causes of hair loss, especially the seasonal hair loss. Although certain vitamins such as those from the group B are indisputably vital for healthy hair growth it would be an overstatement to say they can reverse one’s hair loss. Nevertheless, vitamins are a major component of many hair loss treatments, both topical as well as oral. The question is whether they really are of any significant benefit when it comes to treating severe forms of alopecia.

In certain situations they can be beneficial, especially in women, whose hair loss can be caused by a variety of different factors not directly related to hereditary factors. They can also be helpful as a supportive treatment in reversible forms of hair loss such as alopecia areata or telogen effluvium as they can give more shine and a feel of higher thickness to the newly regrown hair. However, as far as the typical androgenetic alopecia is concerned they are not of much value when used alone, since they do not address any of its major causes. Hence, they probably will not hurt you but if you are a regular hair loss sufferer affected by male pattern baldness they will not do much for you compared with proven treatments, affecting your hormonal behavior.
